Doctor Who, Rose/Master + Ten/Master + Ten/Rose, Act: Talking (and probably a little emo-kink)


The first time she calls him, instead of the other way around, is the night after the Doctor leaves to get Reinette and comes back with nothing but pain and loss in his eyes. She doesn't know what he's doing now, probably tinkering with something. Mickey's probably sleeping. Rose can't sleep. She feels for him, but that doesn't mean she's not angry too, doesn't mean she can stop thinking about what would have happened if he hadn't come back. And there's no one she can really talk to about it. Except, maybe, him.

"Has he always been so completely daft?" she blurts out, to his greeting.

"Rose, my darling, I could write volumes on the subject," the man on the other ends says.

If the next hour is any indication, he really could. She loses track of the number of times he makes her laugh as he reminisces about their academy days, about schemes that blew up in their faces.

And she's not stupid. She knows he could be making it all up, but he's just always seemed to know so much, more than he should if he were lying. And of course, she hasn't volunteered anything. She doesn't tell him about where they go or what they do, except in the vaguest sense.

Not being able to tell the Doctor is bad enough, and she's not totally convinced yet that she can't. But right now the memory of huddling in the old church with her parents is still fresh, and that's not something she can risk. Doesn't mean she doesn't feel horrible, though. She knows the Doctor would want to know that another Timelord escaped death.

"Oh, but he's gorgeous this time around, isn't he?" he says, pulling her out of her thoughts.

"Haven't noticed," she responds, biting her lip.

And that's when he begins to tell her, in great detail, all the things he'd like to do to the Doctor right now if he could only meet him without causing a paradox. And it shouldn't be as hot as it is, it really shouldn't, but her body clearly hasn't got the message. She starts with reluctant, lazy caresses through her pajama bottoms, and when that isn't enough anymore she gives up the pretense and pushes them down to her thighs, touches skin against skin. His voice moves over her, spurring her on--the little hitches in his breath, his quiet sighs, and of course, the words painting vivid pictures in her mind.

"Next time, I'll ask you to join us," he finally says, and she's gone, has to bite down hard on her palm to muffle the shout.

After nearly a minute of silence marred only by their breathing, he says, "Talk to you soon, Rose Tyler."

She ends the call, still trying to catch her breath, guilt and exhilaration battling for dominance.

As soon as the Master has a moment to spare, he sits the Doctor in one of the comfortable chairs and watches his face as Rose's voice comes at him from every direction over the Valiant's PA system.

"Tell me," he says, after. "When I caught you, did you at any moment find yourself thinking 'At least he can't get to Rose?' I bet you did."

The Doctor says nothing, but he doesn't have to. The heady mix of pain and reluctant pleasure on his face ensures that the Master will be playing this particular track over and over again.

I didn't think anyone would write this one--but this is the one I wanted so badly. AND this well lived up to my expectations! It's so IC for the MASTER to do this! and hot. And twisted. but hot.

I can so see Rose being conflicted and I love that it was about their mutual--obsession to the Doctor. I think it was human of her to want to talk to someone after that episode/event (and I wondered why there wasn't some more follow up to that anyway but oh well show). It's her character to get upset and led up to here.

And it's hot. And that last line from the Master gave me shivers.

Unclaimed Debts, Belle/Rumpelstiltskin

Forever, she'd said, she'd agreed, a deal struck a lifetime ago and a world away.

And he wanted to collect.

Every time he saw Belle, walking down one of Storybrooke's streets, a bouquet in her arms, reading a book on a chilly bench, speaking carefully with Sheriff Swan, he wanted to approach her, wanted to lean in just a touch too close, and tell her that she belonged to him.

It didn't matter if he'd tossed her away because he'd been too much of a coward to keep her; it didn't matter that she likely didn't remember him at all, much less the bargain that had saved her family.

She was his. She was his, and he wanted nothing more than to take her home with him, take her to his bed, take, take, take.

But he didn't. He didn't and he wouldn't because as it turned out, there was a craven scrap of his old self hidden deep, the faintest ghost of the man who had done dark, desperate things to keep his son safe. After that, keeping Belle safe was easy– he just had to keep her away from him. He wanted Belle like a drowning man wanted air; he wanted her happiness and safety just a smidgeon more than that. And if there is one thing he knew, it was that he had no skill at making Belle either happy or safe.

This was beautiful poetic emo kink. And quite honestly, I could see this as the truest version of this pairing on the show. I think he would have self-hate or self-awareness as it is to think he'd take too far. And it's so sad but one of the better executions--and insight-- of a love that stays far away.
